Our Story
Mwin Tuba Hospital and Colo-Proctology Centre Ltd is a high-standard, quality-assured hospital situated at Tuba in the Ga South Municipality. It began operations on 1st June, 2022. The idea to establish a high performing private medical facility in this locality was birthed in 2007 and the construction of the project started on 19th July, 2008. Kasoa and its environs is a rapidly growing human settlement. Its’ rate of growth has out-stripped the provision of essential social services by the government, and health care is one of them. Despite the presence of many clinics in this are there is a general lack of secondary and tertiary surgical services including emergencies surgeries. Mwin Tuba Hospital and Colo-Proctology Centre was established to help addressing this need in the area and also to the general public.
Our Difference
Colo-Proctology is a highly specialized branch of General Surgery concerned with the treatment of diseases of the colon, rectum and anus. In Ghana diseases of the colon, rectum and anus are treated by general surgeons and Gastroenterologists. This is a source of concern hence in 2012 Prof. Jonathan CB Dakubo and Dr. Antoinette AA Bediako-Bowan, both general surgeons, decided to dedicate and focus their attention and effort towards developing highly specialized colo-rectal surgery service at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. The two surgeons have designed and practiced procedures to treat diseases of the colon, rectum and anus that are acceptable to the African population. Due to challenges with operation space and perennial logistical constraints, and to expand in the number of sites for rapid training of colorectal surgeons Colo-Proctology service has been added to the activities at Mwin Tuba Hospital.
